Diarist Badge
I have kept a diary regularly over the last year, starting June 2021, as I have finally found a format that works for me. I have tried traditional daily diaries over the years and get bored and give up within a couple of months. Last year I bought a plain paper notebook, scrawled a week to a page calendar for the month and jotted down appointments and things I needed to do - this evolved into a vertical split on each page with a calendar on the left and a to-do list on the right. I then had a memory page for each month, initially one for homelife and later another for work, where I scribbled a sentence or two about any outings, events or memorable things and enclosed each of them in a bubble. Doodle appeared between the bubbles too. More meaningful memories or musings got a page to themselves. I included poems I had liked, books I had read, drawings I had made, and so on. I also keep a weekly log f what is in flower in my garden. The back of the book had a pocket and this was stuffed with programmes from concerts and gigs, ticket stubs, invitations etc.
A new book was started in July and will work on the same lines, and will hopefully keep evolving. I have found this such a successful way of keeping a diary, with no obligation to fill in on a daily basis. Love it!
