Regular meet-ups with Island Rebels to discuss Rebel Badge Club in particular, and work on individual badges, starting in April 2022.

Quizzes at the local hospice to raise funds; we came third the first time (with stiff competition) and won the second time against the only other team, who put up a good fight! We are going to continue attending these quizzes and attend others at local cafes. #TeamHop-Goblin. #Fundraising

We also met up to discuss a book for bookclub - The Cure by KA Riley - and finished off the Reader Badge. #Reader

I have also worked with a fellow rebel on Community Service badge, helping her run events for the Scout Active Support Unit.

Summer Silliness

This month has been rather slower on the badge front due to end-of-school-year exhaustion for one thing. However, on the penultimate week of term I accompanied a school Duke of Edinburgh's Award trip to the Brecon Beacons in Wales, with fellow rebel Rachel and two D of E leaders. Obviously we had to take Fred the houseplant with us and he accompanied us on several walks, stayed in tents and minibuses and played in an adventure playground. He also came to a cafe. The weather was generally awful, but he coped magnificently (as did we and the kids). While there I finished my Camper Badge, and started my Advanced Camper Badge. I only had the menu planning and camp kitchen to do for camping, as I had camped lots the previous year but hadn't needed to cater. Advanced camping should be finished after a festival next month and Rebel Camp. I highly recommend camping in the rain, and hiking in the Welsh hills on damp days. Dinosaurs and Silly Games

I have updated the merit badge section on my Rebel Camp Blanket, and am now dithering about the layout of the challenge badges - I may keep dithering for a while! I finished January's Exercise Every Day challenge, and am now having a go at February's Love Challenge; I am not keen on February - it is my least favourite month - so this is particularly challenging, but I got the badge in the subscription so now I have to earn it! I made some heart-shaped shortbread biscuits for work, which went down well, and knitted a very dark rose. I made a Galentine's card for a chum, and wrote myself a love letter - hard to do! I also sat and researched the origins of the heart symbol and the history of St Valentine, both interesting tasks. I just have to continue treating myself and then I am finished! Community Service Badge

I shall mostly be helping out at County Scout events with Scout Active Support Unit. Corf Scout Camp Open Day 15th May 2022 The day began at crack of silly when the entire island was woken by the most enormous clap of thunder. The weather didn't improve! I spent the day helping make hot drinks for cold, wet children and their parents, and later cooking burgers to help keep up with demand. A chilly, damp but fun day. Wood Badge Training Weekend 20th - 22nd May 2022 Friday evening was spent shopping with Linda for all the food we needed for the weekend as we were catering for approx. 20 leaders and trainers. We arrived at Corf Camp at 7.15am the following morning, put the water urn on to heat (and the kettle!) and began preparing breakfast - cereal, toast and bacon, eggs, sausages and beans.
